Prof. Pio G. Panti Jr.,Taekwondo Tournament Manager, said that the SCUAA players Danforth Tayo (finweight), Jonas Eusebio (flyweight), Jonel Soliveres (featherweight), Charmaine Eusebio (bantamweight) and Jelly Mae Vargas (lightweight) did not have to compete in the preliminary rounds of Taekwondo tournament.
However, the 26 men and 15 women non-SCUAA players clashed at the CSC Gymnasium on September 6, 2012 for the win in following weight division: finweight, flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, middleweight and heavyweight.
The said representatives still fought the winners of the preliminaries to secure their chance to play for CSC in this year’s SCUAA.
Meanwhile, weight divisions with single entries like featherweight, lightweight, and middleweight of women division, and welterweight and heavyweight for men are automatically in for the SCUAA Meet.
Panti is confident that the CSC’s performance in SCUAA Meet will not change even though their bet, Carl Dominie Bogabil, a gold medalist in flyweight division, has become a varsity of Camarines Sur Polytechnic College (CSPC).
He now proudly places his hopes in the freshman Cesar Tomagan. “Magaling yan si Cesar. Silver medalist ‘yan,” Panti added.
The weigh-in of players was done on September 5, 2012 in front of the clinic, followed by the sports clinic in the afternoon at CSC gym.
