Rafael Tuazon Jr., Julius Bilolo, David Yutan, and freshman Roque de Quiroz blanked their opponents from Blue and Yellow teams in a stunning overall record of eight wins and zero loss.
During the second round, SCUAA ’11 player Bilolo came first after an intense fight in the second board. Unit III’s Marcelo Teves was on the lead when he blundered in moving his king piece, causing Bilolo to succeed in the bout.
Meanwhile, the Red ladies likewise triumphed with a convincing score of 2-2 in the second round and 3-1 in the third.
SCUAA ’11 player Marjoreen Sabeniano and Rizabelle Icawat won all their matches in the tourney.
Board one player Rizabelle Icawat defeated SCUAA ’11 player Florie Mae Gianan in a session that lasted for almost two hours.
Icawat’s teammate and board four player Charise Magno ran out of time and lost her first match against Blue team’s Jhezela Gonzales, but rebounded in her second and final battle.
Unit III clinched the second place, followed by Unit II.
